Three hand-written HTML files, one stylesheet, no build step. The elevation strips are CSS gradients rather than images, which is why the whole site weighs less than a single photograph would.

Why so plain

Notes like these are read once, usually on a phone, often on a train with two bars of signal. Every kilobyte spent on decoration is a kilobyte that does not arrive. The plainness is the feature.

Corrections

Distances come from a watch, elevation from the same watch, and both should be treated as approximate. If a described fork no longer exists — paths move, forestry happens — the note is simply out of date.
